Solar Heights Fancied For FTQ At Chelmsford City

Fast Track Qualifiers
|

12 February 2020

There is a Fast-Track Qualifier at Chelmsford City tomorrow, February 13, courtesy of the £20,000 tote.co.uk Fillies' Conditions Stakes (7.00pm, five runners) over a mile.

The winner of the Polytrack contest will be guaranteed a free start in the £150,000 Ladbrokes Fillies & Mares' All-Weather Championship over seven furlongs at Lingfield Park on Finals Day, Good Friday, April 10.

Solar Heights (James Tate/PJ McDonald), who carries the familiar colours of Saeed Manana, is the one to beat on ratings with an official mark of 94.

The four-year-old daughter of Cape Cross is a three-time winner over a mile at Chelmsford City, the latest of those successes coming in a handicap in August. She has run twice on the All-Weather at Wolverhampton this winter following a break, most recently finishing second in a class two fillies' handicap on January 27.

Trainer James Tate said today: "Solar Heights is in good form. Chelmsford is her favourite track - all of her wins have come there - and we are in the fortunate position that she is the top-rated runner in the race. Fingers crossed, if nothing goes wrong, she should have an obvious chance.

"I thought her first run back at Wolverhampton [finished fifth] was a bit disappointing, when things did not go her way. There was a keen horse that ran past her and lit her up a bit, but other than that I was not too sure what to make of it.

"I could not knock her latest start though - I thought she ran really well. She has been put back up to 94 and although I don't think there is any obvious reason to suggest that she is improving, she is running to marks in the mid to low 90s, which I am hoping will be good enough tomorrow."

Geizy Teizy (Ben Curtis) and Exceed Loose (David Probert), both trained by fellow Newmarket handler Marco Botti, meet Solar Heights again after finishing third and fourth in the class two fillies' handicap at Wolverhampton on January 27. Geizy Teizy had previously captured a similar contest at Wolverhampton on December 27, in which Solar Heights finished fifth.

Starlight Romance (Joe Fanning) has rediscovered her form since moving to North Yorkshire handler Linda Stubbs. Formerly trained by Richard Fahey, she was just denied in a mile handicap at Kempton Park on February 1, having captured a seven-furlong fillies' handicap at the same venue on January 20.

The five runners are completed by Ruby Gates (John Butler/Dylan Hogan), who steps up steeply in class following success in a selling handicap at Wolverhampton on January 27.

Chelmsford City's seven-race programme starts at 5.30pm and ends at 8.30pm.
