Promising filly Amniarix (Ed Walker/Richard Kingscote) continued her rise through the ranks with a decisive success in the Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Fillies' Conditions Stakes (7f) at Wolverhampton last night, Monday, January 4.
The well-backed 7/4 favourite was completing a three-timer on the All-Weather following a pair of comfortable victories in handicaps, firstly over the course and distance on November 13 and then over a mile at Kempton Park on December 9.
Even though she had 16lb to find with Shimmering Dawn (James Tate/PJ McDonald), Amniarix proved much the best as she powered clear of her 99-rated rival in the closing stages to win by two lengths. Dancing Feet (Archie Watson/Hollie Doyle) was a length and a half further back in third.
Victory in this Fast-Track Qualifier provides Amniarix, a four-year-old daughter of Speightstown, with a guaranteed start in the Ladbrokes All-Weather Fillies & Mares Championship over seven furlongs at Lingfield Park on Finals Day, Good Friday, April 2.
Richard Kingscote said of Bjorn Nielsen’s homebred: “Amniarix has done well this winter.
“She gave me a lovely ride throughout and was very straightforward. I just had to trust that she would pick up in the straight, as she had done in her last couple of runs, and she did that nicely. She was very smooth and although I came wide off the turn, she was picking up well.
“I think connections wanted to find out a bit more today, just to see where they are with her and what the future holds. She has opened up some avenues for them.
“Lingfield is a sharp track, but she is well balanced and a strong traveller. I think she is pretty straightforward to be fair to her and I can’t see it posing a problem.”
Kingscote enjoyed three winners on the night, extending his lead in the All-Weather Champion Jockey standings.
