A Pontefract novice winner in June, the daughter of Sea The Stars put it up to subsequent G1 scorer Consent at Newbury soon after before finishing fifth in the Listed Upavon Stakes at Salisbury.
Angus Gold, racing manager for Shadwell, said: “Wujjood is a good-looking filly with a lovely pedigree. We hoped she would be Stakes class, but she had a significant injury as a two-year-old and it was touch and go whether we would be able to race her, so she has done well to come back.
“After winning at Pontefract, she ran a very good race behind Sir Mark Prescott’s filly at Newbury. It was a funny run at Salisbury as she appeared not to stay and then at Ascot she did not like the ground.
“The Winter Oaks is a valuable prize, so we wanted to get her out to see if she is worth persevering with this year with the aim of getting some black type. She would be a valuable broodmare prospect if we can do that, but she has to prove it from a mark of 89 before we step up a gear.”
The BetMGM Winter Oaks Trial form is also represented by Marco Botti’s True Colors, who led for much of the straight before being collared to go down by a length and a half in fourth.
Lady Of Arabia is on a three-timer for Eve Johnson Houghton following wins at Chelmsford and Wolverhampton, while the George Boughey-trained Unassuming looks to improve on her sixth in the race 12 months ago. Charlie Hills’ Kimeko Glory drops down in trip after two runner-up finishes at the track.
