31 March 2021

Mums Tipple will be one of the headline acts in a classy edition of the Bombardier All-Weather Mile Championships (4.45pm) at Lingfield Park on Finals Day, Good Friday, April 2, with nine of the 15 entries rated 102 or higher.

Mums Tipple returned to the level of form he showed as a juvenile when posting a dominant victory in the seven-furlong Listed Bombardier Lady Wulfruna Stakes, a Fast-Track Qualifier, at Wolverhampton on March 13.

It was a long time between drinks for the four-year-old, who had not been in the winner’s enclosure since bolting up by 11 lengths in the valuable Goffs UK Premier Yearling Stakes at York in August 2019.

Mums Tipple could be joined by stablemate Oh This Is Us, who landed the Bombardier All-Weather Mile Championships in 2019.

Trainer Richard Hannon said today: “Mums Tipple is in great form. I was very pleased with his last run – it was a smart performance – and he looks like he is going the right way.

“Finals Day will be the first time he has run over a mile since the Guineas. I am hoping it won’t be an issue as he got the seven furlongs really well at Wolverhampton.

“I am not sure yet what we are doing with Oh This Is Us. He could run here with Mums Tipple or go for the Bombardier All-Weather Championships Apprentice Handicap [5.15pm].

“I don’t think Beat Le Bon will run.”

Hannon is also responsible for Arafi in the Ladbrokes All-Weather Fillies' And Mares' Championships (2.35pm, seven entries, 7f). The daughter of Farhh has won two of her three starts this season including an easy victory over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton in February.

He added: “This race looks to have cut up quite nicely for Arafi. She was impressive in her two runs over seven furlongs, particularly at Wolverhampton, and should have a chance.”
