Fast-Track victory for Godolphin’s Dubai One

December 4th, 2016 Fast-Track Qualifier

Godolphin won the Conditions Stakes over five furlongs on Tapeta with Dubai One at Wolverhampton yesterday (Saturday) evening, December 3, a Fast-Track Qualifier.

The two-year-old daughter of Exceed And Excel, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, tracked the leader Monte Cinq (Jason Ward/Tom Eaves) before going to the front just inside the final furlong under Pat Cosgrave.

The 11/4 second favourite scored cosily by half a length from 7/2 chance Gheedaa (William Haggas/Ben Curtis) who ran on well.

Sutter County (Mark Johnston/P J McDonald), the Evens favourite, finished strongly, another half length back in third after going right at the start. The winning time was 1m 0.36s.

Cosgrave said: “I was tracking the leader. Dubai One gave me a good feel, travelled well and is a very gutsy and fast filly.

“She was a bit keen when she won at Newcastle on Monday and we took the hood off today and that helped.

“She is all speed and a quick-turning five is right up her street.

“She has qualified now for the big race at Lingfield which is over six furlongs and hopefully she will have relaxed a little more by then.”

Dubai One is guaranteed a free place in the £150,000 Three-Year-Old Championships over six furlongs on Polytrack at Lingfield Park on All-Weather Championships Finals Day, Good Friday, April 14.

Her first four starts were over six furlongs, with the three on the All-Weather resulting in two seconds and a victory on Polytrack at Kempton Park.
